Old Mangochi Bridge had 1-lane bridge with wooden slab which constrained the weight of vehicle accessible less than 7 tons. Mangochi Bridge was important bridge along the Malawi National Highway No.3, which could not correspond to traffic increase and thus hindered the economical development of Malawi.
